Who is joshua james?

My Artistic Journey

My journey as an artist began with a lesson in ‘movie magic.’ I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, but my focus shifted at a very young age when my dad introduced me to the world of horror movies. By explaining how the blood and gore on screen were created, he sparked a lifelong fascination that would come to define my work.

That early love for horror quickly filled the pages of my sketchbooks. I spent countless hours doodling my way through school, constantly developing and refining my own unique interpretation of the "dark side" (lol).

While I pursued a Media degree in college and tried my hand at graphic arts, I always found myself coming back to my true passion: creating my own drawings. Today, that passion is fueled by an extensive personal collection of films, ranging from popular titles to the rarest of horror gems. These movies are my ultimate inspiration, providing the creative spark for every piece of original artwork I produce.

What I'm Working On Now

I’m one of the featured artists at Splatterflix & Nevermore Film Festival events at the Carolina Theater, Durham, NC. I create original posters and drawings to promote each year’s highlighted movies. This year I will be drawing posters for Friday the 13th, Lost Boys, Return of the Living Dead, and Halloween. I am a full time artist displaying and merchandising my original work. I have been contracted to draw covers and pages for a new comic book currently being developed.
